final thoughts
Summary
Thomas Jefferson was not only politically involved with our country, but he also contributed to the technology aspect of life. Besides being the third President of the United States, participating through many roles for congress, and making political enemies, Jefferson's "side job" was sustaining and making improvements to Monticello. To achieve this goal, Jefferson had to invent some tools to help him. Although these devices were not like our typical I-phone and Samsung Tablets, they worked for this time period. For the small nation of farmers Jefferson wanted, his inventions reflected on his ideas of the future. Some of the more famous creations are the iron plow, great clock, and dumbwaiter. Thomas Jefferson made a great impact on this country through his work and devotion to his passions and dreams.
My Reaction
Before doing research for this project, I thought I knew quite a bit about Thomas Jefferson. When I had visited Monticello, his home, a few years ago, I had seen much of his work. The Great Clock is still standing as well as the dumbwaiter. But after the research I did, I realized there was more to Jefferson than being President and a political leader. He made these amazing pieces to help him in his everyday life. In my opinion, a lot of his work has been taken for granted.
